Camino Day 4: The Way Back

Villafranca to O'Cebreiro - JBD = 30.1km

Today was the day of views. It was an amazing day of walking which included an early rise and an early climb before walking in the clouds, providing sensational views from all around, with the countryside peeping through the clouds occasionally to take our breath away.

Lunch was at a lovely little place in Trabadelo called El Puente Peregrino. It had great food, wonderful wine and lovely little gifts - one which I will be carrying around with me for a while. Recommended for any hungry pilgrim at the end of a long morning. The owner was a funny Dutch guy who had been out there a while and knew how to host.

The afternoon consisted of a long lovely walk, with sensational views all the way back to the mountains we walked over on the first day. It was an amazing sight. The dip on the left hand side of the far ridge in the photo here is where we walked. I could have stayed there all day and all night looking at the view.

We made O'Cebreiro in the evening and were officially in Galicia, the same county as Santiago. We found an albergue for the night and, even in the late hour we arrived, found somewhere for a meal and where presented with a feast big enough for 10 which just about fed us.

A splendid day.
