Swallows

Last year there were very few swallows around our house and fewer house martins and no swifts were seen at all. This year numbers have increased back to closer what we would normally expect to see of all three breeds, after a slow start to the migration year. Families of swallows have taken to perching on our new pergola to rest and take in the view.
A sunny day with most of the morning spent catching up on various administrative matters, including contacting roofers re the leaks we have to the flat roof terrace at the back of the house. One responded within an hour and has given very helpful advice and suggestions so that I now feel much more positive about the way forward.
The rest of the day was spent planting seeds and seedlings in the third raised bed and netting it to try to keep off predators.
