Split

A really smooth start to the holiday. We left home on the 14.30 train to Zurich, just had to change train at HB to the airport. We were given 2 huge cardboard boxes to pack the bikes in, front wheel and pedals off. Could use the business class check in for the bikes, they were glad to be looked after so well.
Less than 5 mins to get through baggage control, time for a sandwich at NZZ cafe, then a small beer at the Takeoff bar. Flight on time and only one hour 15 mins to Split. The bikes were off first, after putting them back together, in about 30 mins we were on the road. It was getting dark, but only 6km to our Hotel Stacija. What a beautiful hotel next to the sea, lovely simple modern room.
We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, then went for a walk along to the next village, some fabulous old buildings, including Muzej Grada Kaštela, where the local band were playing a little concert. Then back to the hotel, I can hardly believe how nice and easy it’s been on day 1.
