Good luck?

Today, for the first time in visiting the hippodrome I found a horse shoe. I suppose the idea is that they aren't supposed to come off but this one did. It's super light - I suppose race horses don't wear heavy shoes, and doesn't feel like it's made from heavy low grade iron, it's also showing little signs of rust (the colour is mostly the sand it was in). Apparently race horses wear aluminium shoes, which is probably what it's made from.

In England a horseshoe is mounted on a wall this way up to capture good luck, the inverse is considered bad luck as it lets the luck out. I gather in many other countries the convention is reversed... Not sure what I'll do with this shoe...
