Sumer is icumen in (Lhude sing cuccu)

It is midsummer's day, and how inappropriate it is to find myself reminded of Edward Woodward-ward-ward's plight as he called on his deity for succour (one of my favourite films). This is Little Amal, a three and a half metre tall puppet that has so far walked 8000km across Europe in support of refugees. Thanks to RobBris50 for pointing out her visit earlier today.

Of course, the only reason Little Amal is still here is that they couldn't find a jet big enough to take her off to Rwanda... where I gather Johnson is still hiding after his party's trouncing last night. It's hard to believe the state of our politics or our government at the moment... until you look across the pond.

Today is a sad and shameful day for America. Margaret Atwood was prescient, and women across the nation have reason to fear the future. Men too, as fathers and brothers risk realising they've suddenly lost a family member to a back street bungle. And, what happens in the US generally ends up coming over here...

All in all, I feel I need to offer you some Friday Flowers, so here's an extra of poppies on the Cotswold Escarpment. When does the revolution begin?
