Wordsworth's favourite

The Lesser Celandine, Messenger of Spring, Ranunculus ficoria and William Wordsworth's favourite flower, was definitely sending me messages with its face upturned to the sun that Spring is here even if it has gone tomorrow!

It is St George's Day, patron saint of England. In Fordington, where I grew up, this was a day of celebration with an ox roast on the village green, Morris dancers and the church tower of Fordington St George open for all and sundry to climb up the ancient stone steps to the top to admire the view over Dorchester and its watermeadows from the top.

We must not forget that 23rd April is also the birthday of William Shakespeare who was born in 1564, and my friend Rosie!
