What the heck?

So here we are in Hebden Bridge Station on the final leg of our trip home from Orkney.
We always knew we were running a risk sticking with plans to catch a train home but. Not quite this.
Up early to drop the hire car in Kirkwall and get a lift to the airport (minibus). Flight to Edinburgh arrived on time and the bags arrived and we were straight onto a tram into town. So far so good. G and D went to the station to iron out some confusion over which train we were on while Mr EAnn and I found a spot to order tea Here it gets tricky. A lorry has run through a bridge parapet and landed on the lines. No trains at all. Come back after 2 pm they say for more news (I bet).
Tea was drunk while we plotted. No hotel room available for 2 nights. Tried and succeeded in booking a hire care from Glasgow airport but they rang back to say it was a mistake and no car was available. (Still waiting for them to ring again to see if there’s another available anywhere!).
So… bus to Glasgow, taxi to Glasgow Central, and with the help of staff there, train home via Manchester. Delays meant we missed the connection in Lancaster so with help from the world’s best train manager (thanks Lynne) who found us a connection from Preston direct to York.
So what are we doing in Hebden Bridge? Turns out the 19.15 to Leeds will stop in Mirfield. Said bye to G and D, got the train and walked home. Door to door 6.30 am to 8.15 pm.
We’re tired!
In other news I lost my phone on Thursday, the lovely ladies in the cafe have found it and are going to post it back!
Oh and our car is still in Boston Spa. We will worry about that later.
