Evening walk by the Wisconsin River

Tuesday June 14
I know we’ve only been back a few days from our mission trip in Kentucky, but today we were on the road again! Jen and Laura came up with the idea of this trip, arranged around Juneteenth, a new national holiday, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. The Holliday is actually on Sunday 19th, but will be observed on Monday. Of course, being retired, we don’t bother so much about holidays, but for Laura, trying to adjust to a job with “regular” holidays, after years of teaching elementary school, she wants to make the most of each one! She is taking tomorrow afternoon,Thursday and Friday, and since she had an extra busy week last week, she will be able to take the morning as comp time. So today we were driving up to her place in Wausau Wisconsin, and tomorrow, three of us head west to South Dakota. We had a good drive, and arrived in Wausau about the time she got off work. It was a lovely evening, so we went for a lovely walk before dinner, beside the Wisconsin River, which runs through Wausau
