Not a native ladybird

No. It’s a harlequin, not the traditional British red variety.

Mind you, it’s settled on a Rudebeckia, also from overseas.

I said I’d go back to the newly opened up reserve with proper shoes. I popped in on my way home from Morrisons and I noticed a few differences.

With no mow May it’s very overgrown - and beautiful.  Not so good is the huge increase of dog mess. Not so good is the absence of butterflies, in particular the Common Blues whose little yellow flowers seem to have been overwhelmed. I also couldn’t find any trace of our orchids. Maybe they’re not just ready yet.
