Life through the lens...

By ValC

Tiny Tuesday.

The tiniest flower on the tallest plant in our garden.
( See extra.)
Phormium tenax ‘ Variegatum’.
Common name New Zealand flax.
I keep it in a large pot, otherwise it would take over half the garden.
It seems to throw up flower spikes every two or three years, which are followed by large black pods.
I quite like this exotic looking plant, and especially as it is evergreen.
However MrC asked when the flowers would open, and when I told him they already had, he wasn’t very impressed!
Apparently they are very high in nectar, and are a hummingbird favourite.
So now we just need the hummingbirds!
