New 3rd ager

All is well that ends well...

We had a little walk along the canal and set off., filled up with fuel. I drove the first hour and half to our favourite coffee stop. As we were due to visit M, A and children at the end of the day we didn't rush.

Headed off, and got down to Worcestershire on M5. We only potter at about 68 -70. We were behind a lorry and the boss indicated and then pulled into, immediately we saw a large stepladder, there was no opportunity to avoid it, the noise was horrendous as we went over it, got a bit of a wiggle on, but before we knew it we were safely on the hard should. The skirt of the van badly damaged, and there was diesel leaking from tank below engine.  A quick call 999 , really pleased I have what three roads as I could pin point location very accurately.  The road was closed within minutes while debris was picked up. Before we knew it the tow truck arrived, and confirmed it couldn't be driven. He took us and the Motorhome to its normal garage, daughter kindly picked us up and grabbing a takeaway on the way back which was much appreciated.

All very draining, but just so relieved that all safe and sound.  Everyone from the call centre, the tow truck  and the receiving garage were so professional and efficient.
