Clients and other animals

It seems that everyone working on this project has been discreetly briefed that the client has an absurd obsession with her four grafted apple trees and that if she raises the subject, they are to pander to her whims.

Today was due to be the moving of the apple trees, circa mid-morning. I turned up at the house circa mid-morning and no-one was there, nor were they there for the next two hours. I had foreseen this possibility so had taken my laptop with tasks to do.

In due course David arrived and enlisted Jamie's help to move the tubs and place them on top of the strawberry plants, which we'd agreed will probably survive the assault. Jamie did not know what a strawberry plant looked like so David, who is, fortunately, a gardener, showed him. Here are my apple grafts on top of my strawberry plants.

It turned out that not everyone has been briefed about the client's obsession with bricks and when a casual remark was dropped today about going to collect some red London stock I phoned the architect in a panic. He contacted the builder-in-chief who reassured the chain that these are for hidden use only.

No doubt by tomorrow everyone will have been briefed not to mention bricks in front of the obsessive client.

I had a meeting this afternoon with electrician, Josh, who can read a wiring drawing but who is much happier walking round rooms with the client pencil-marking where sockets and switches are to go. Suits me down to the skirting board.
