Small tortoiseshell caterpillar on nettles

A blip pops up when you least expect it. I was studying a hog weed as a possibility when Susan called to have a look at what she’d found. They must only recently have hatched.

This morning was taken up by the installation of energy smart meters. The company bombarded us with texts and email to remind us of the date and time and to be sure we were in. Apart from clearing a space around the old meters no mention was made of what had to be switched or turned off.

With hindsight it was obvious that all gas appliances would need turning off including venerable boiler with its temperamental pilot light. Fortunately, it lit again first time.

Pleased yesterday blip brought back some good memories for some of you. I was conscious of the vegetarian aspect of the post! It was the smell of bacon cooking that made my sister in law stop being a vegetarian!
