The Meeting

This shows a gathering of villagers in the Elamouleni region, which is about 30km south west of Mzuzu.
In doing our survey of pumps and wells in the area we found that they have 16 pumps/wells but only 2 are functioning. We put in these two in 2006.
To enable us to get to grips with the issues we met with the Chief (Group village headman) and four of his nine village leaders(Village headmen).

Harisen Reports:
We met the chiefs at Elamuleni School. The meeting went on very well with 13 participants, 5 chiefs and 8 members. We have agreed that there will be the main committee for Elamuleni as a whole and sub committee in each chief who will be trained how to maintain the pumps once they are installed.
They also have an orphan care centre close to the school. Liam suggested that if they can find land for garden and they should provide manure and all the support and we provide seeds. they all agreed.

For the pumps that were installed by CCAP, they said there was no follow up on the pumps and the volunteers who were trained could not be traced.
We have also agreed that we are going to collect all the broken parts when we visit them again.

Progress I hope
