Sitting pretty

Such a lot has happened today that when I look back at breakfast time it feels like another day. It began with the arrival of half a dozen polite small boys to celebrate grandson James’s birthday a month after the event - at 8.30am. After some breakfast pastries and a safety video they all headed off for a karting hour in Fife and we emerged to finish our coffee. I went for a quick shop, had a seat in the garden with the dog, read the paper - and suddenly they were all back, full of the joys and anticipation of pizza…

By then we were heading off to our other family. We had a lunch/shopping date with our granddaughters. We revisited Catriona’s favourite eatery in the St James’s Centre - Catriona highly amused at the efforts of the man behind the counter to chat up Grandma - and shopped for shorts (not for me) before bussing back down to theirs for dinner. Now we’re back where we started and this family have popped down to London for the weekend leaving us in charge of the cats.

Photo of Anna drinking a bizarre concoction involving berries of flavour (the girls mentioned tapioca? ) while sitting in a rather attractive swing seat outside the St James Centre. It seemed to be part of a publicity thing for a production of My Fair Lady .

Update:The cats seem to be having a midnight feast. I think we’ll just overlook this …
