If you can't beat them...

Nipplewort ( Lapsana communis )

30 days wild day 29.

Since having to give up her allotment because it was too far from her new home Kat has been taking over a friend's garden.  So we went over there to do a bit of gardening, hedge trimming etc.   Following my attempt at posting something wild for the 30 days of June I took shots of a few of the plants which hadn't yet been "dealt with".

Nipplewort is common throughout the Uk and naturalised in many parts of the world, where it is often considered invasive.  IT seems the young leaves are edible but being hairy may not appeal to everyone.  The name Nipplewort is said to be because the closed flower buds are thought to resemble nipples.
