Castle Roy

Castle Roy, is a 12th century stronghold of Clan Comyn and is said to be the oldest fortress of its type in Scotland. The castle may have been named after the 'Red' Comyn who became a victim of Robert the Bruce. It seems highly appropriate that the castle should be partially surrounded by this vivid sea of wildflowers in which red poppies predominate.
