Common Twayblade

The tiny elusive Lesser twayblade is one of my bucket list plants and today we explored a possible location for it. Instead of the lesser form we found a colony of Common Twayblade (Listera ovata). Despite its name this unassuming orchid is actually a rarity in this area so finding it was even more exciting than the sea of poppies in yesterday's Blip.

On the same site were colonies of the more flamboyant and robust Northern Marsh Orchid pictured in the extra.
