Strike

So we spent the day cleaning and tidying the house and packing our cases and then the taxi came at three in the afternoon to whisk us to the airport for our six thirty flight to Bologna. So far so good.

The flight was delayed an hour, it then took forever to actually get off the plane once we'd arrived and we emerged from a pretty packed airport after midnight. We went to get a taxi but there were no taxis - on strike for two days we were informed - so we bought some tickets on the platform and crammed ourselves onto a hot and sweaty night bus that was going to the central train station. And then wandered down through the porticos for half an hour to reach our accommodation - right next to it was a food place selling pizza by the slice, stuffed foccacias and beer on draught to take out. A complete no-brainer!

It's now 2.30am local time and there's a day of sightseeing ahead.  Best get some kip.
