The Lozarithm Lens

Woody Wednesday (6th July 2022)

Work resumed on the "mound" area of the Woodland Garden, with Refna removing ground ivy and cutting back the spindle plant (Euonymous Japonicus 'Ovatus Auyreus'), and filling two dustbins with cuttings. Several old fence posts and other planks of wood including an oak beam were removed,  and my task was to overhaul the shed so that they could be stacked inside. Items for recycling were lifted into Tommy Trailer, ready to be taken to the dump when they next open on Friday.

Stuff to be moved to the coal shed included many pots of paint (temporarily placed back on the shed floor). Small terracotta flowerpots were taken out to make room. Birdfeeders were also replenished and pot plants and baskets tended to - a busy afternoon.

Before all that I had taken some shots in the garden and front yard including my blip. There are several wood docks (Rumex Sanguineus) growing through the stone paths in the front yard and on the driveway. The flowers have now changed to red and later, of course, they will become brown. I do enjoy these so-called weeds.

With thanks to Miranda1008 for Wild Flower Week.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Nancy Butts - I Want To Hold Your Hand Baby (I Get Lonely) (recorded 1968, Detroit MI)
Nancy Butts sang with her sisters as the Butts Sisters before becoming a soul singer, recording for Flaming Arrow and King. This was recorded for Flaming Arrow, a label run by Eugene Davis, who produced this, but it wasn't until the eighties when it was taken up by various Northern Soul clubs that it became popular. I heard it for the first time on this night when Gideon Coe played it on his 6 Music show.
