Awaiting the commonwealth games baton...

We had to nip into Southend this morning - the joy of all the other nearby banks having been shut down! - to use the bank, and saw the whole length of the high street had barriers up and were awaiting the arrival of the Commonwealth Games baton that is travelling through Essex today on its' way to Birmingham for the start of the games at the end of the month.  We didn't know what time they'd be arriving so didn't stick around! And the seafront was filled with school children again - rather too hot for me to be at the beach today! Keeping the house nice and cool though with windows and blinds all shut! And maybe a sneaky ice lolly or 2!
