Venturing further afield

Today was time to get out of Kilkenny itself and see some of the countryside. What a perfect day it turned out to be! The weather was wonderful. Sunny and warm, the best way to enjoy the glorious scenery and some of the towns nearby.

Inistioge (pronounced Inish-TEEG) is a spot we’d been to many years ago because of a wonderful restaurant which offered some of the best dining anywhere in Ireland at the time. Today it was just coffee and scones and cream and jam – all yummy – and wonderful atmosphere.

On from there to Graiguenamanagh and Thomastown and Mount Juliet, stopping over and over to admire the stunning scenery along the banks of the river Nore and to get a taste for the high living of the golfing set. It was while we relaxed in luxury at Mount Juliet that we remembered we had a booking at 8:00 pm in Zuni restaurant back in Kilkenny.

We were very sensible afterwards, just stopping for one Guinness in Cleere’s pub and then on home for a bit of Netflix.

A perfect day.
