Purple Toadflax

The late afternoon sun brought out the colour of the toadflax. It's a rather pretty weed, tall and delicate, and we have quite a lot of it because I rarely pull it out.

J and I played with cyanotypes again, with flowers, grasses and a bit of lace. We left them in the sun for quite a lot longer, about twenty minutes each, but the colour is still not very strong, though one is quite pretty. They are now hanging in J's bathroom, and will be photographed once flattened.

I also picked gooseberries, prepared redcurrants for the freezer and did quite a lot of watering. It's warm, very dry and set to get hotter, so there will be a lot to water this week. The cucumbers and courgettes are coming along nicely, though we've only picked one courgette so far, and P has been working hard at weeding the vegetable garden, so the garlic, beans and aubergine plants now have more space to breathe and grow.
