Northern Isles Day 14

Day 14

We had a relaxing day at our wild camp at St Ninian’s tombolo beach with one final stroll in the mist.

The mist was too thick for the plane which brings in newspapers to get here so we have no Guardian to keep us amused on the boat tonight. 11 in the premiership contest, all promising tax cuts, especially corporation tax. It’s actually very busy compared to the trip up and the free Wifi isn’t doing anything so I doubt Blip will upload. The picture, if it sends, is of us leaving Lerwick. We call in to Orkney at 11pm. Seas are forecasted to be “moderate”. I have had a Stugeron and will accept a gin later.

I can’t believe people are suffering from the heat when we’ve had temperatures of no higher than 13 degrees! It’s another world up here.

At home #3 daughter hosted a reunion of uni flatmates 25 years on, with some partners and children staying over They came from NZ, Canada, Jersey and London. It looked lovely and all the children from aged 8 months to 15 amused themselves. Ella loved the big girls and the baby seemed to bond with Nathaniel. I wish we could have called as we knew them all too as they all stayed with us in Suffolk.

#2 daughter is very pleased with the boys’ school reports - Thomas is a star pupil and James is “making progress”.
