Pod with a view

Late night packing, an incoming cold and a 5am alarm meant I only got 4 hours sleep last night, not ideal. We got the ferry at 7 to Oban and got a few bike snacks in Lidl then head up the road to Killin. The weather was very overcast and wet but the weather app promised a better forecast if we just waited an hour. We drove along to Kenmore for a coffee and by the time we were back in Killin at 11, the sun was shining. We packed the bikes and got changed and joined cycle route 7. What a fantastic bike ride, 21 miles in total along mostly smooth tarmac and the occasional light gravel, nearly all off road too. The views along the Glen Ogle viaduct were amazing and we came across a couple of feral goats next to the path. We rode through broadleaf woodland with evidence of beavers living nearby, through shady Scot’s Pine forest with views down to Loch Earn. We stopped at Broch Cafe for some lunch and enjoyed sitting in the sun under a big tree. We got into Callander at about 4 and quickly found the camping pod, but bigger than any I’ve stayed in before, it has a kitchen and bathroom with shower. Cannon was feeling energetic so quickly got back on his bike and rode all the way back to Killin to bring the car back. S and I walked into town for fish and chips. We are all having a really lovely time but I’m feeling quite rotten and can’t stop sneezing. I’ll sleep well tonight.
