Desperately seeking

"Richard's Mallow"

A couple of weeks ago we were at The Secret Herb Garden in Edinburgh. I'm always drawn to purple flowers and when I saw this was called "Richard's Mallow" it seemed appropriate to buy it. The Mate who recently died was called Richard.

Malva sylvestris - fast-growing and attracts butterflies and bees. Apparently, the leaves and flowers are good to put in salads, but maybe not with the bee on them.

I could do with finding a place in the garden where it can go into the ground and spread, rather than a pot. I'll have to give that some thought as my "purple area" is on the patio with pots.
