Small white butterfly laying its eggs.

I sat and watched this butterfly- in the left hand picture,- right in  the middle, difficult to see, hanging underneath the leaf, depositing its eggs. The eggs of the large white look like little corn of the cobs. I will enjoy watching the eggs hatch.
Some people call these butterflies cabbage whites. There are 2 species of white butterflies that look like this, the small white and the large white. The small ones are very common here.
I bought a serving spoon hallmarked in 1813 in Newcastle from the auction this morning.  I looked at it yesterday.
