Another Day

Letterbox Cottage

When we woke up this morning, Weymouth was covered in fog. We thought it would be a good opportunity to take some photos down at the local church. Later we went to pick up our rental car, and Dups went off to see her father. I was fortunate as Trish and Terry took me to Portland. Photographed an old quarry where Portland Stone is from. Went out to see Portland Bill, the Lighthouse. The fog did not lift at all, and normally one would be able to see some wonderful views, but not today. We stopped at another old church built in 1754, and it was open, so although it has not been used since 1917, it has been done up.
It has a massive grave yard, and the fog was all around it, quite an unusual feeling.
And then we found another church surrounded by gravestones, and the were lots of lovely lemony primula growing wild amongst them. Another photo opportunity.
On the way back to our lodgings we passed this house, right on the bend of the road.
It is called Letterbox Cottage. Typical of the houses in this area, with with the Portland Stone and the thatched roofs.
