A Gentleman In Kharki!

Came across this old mug the other day. After clearing out the dead spider and the dust, I thought it might make an interesting blip.
The print by the artist Caton-Woodville shows a British Soldier in the Boer War some 120 years ago and is sometimes titled “The Last Round”.
On the other side is a short Kipling poem, The Absent-minded Beggar” which was used in an effort to raise funds for the wives and families of the soldiers serving in SA. 
Not such a pleasant day today, back to that damn chilly breeze and the occasional spit of rain plus one rather heavy shower mid afternoon.
