Waiting for the storm

They had announced storms from the south. So, we waited. And waited. By the end of the day, even the weather had had enough of waiting, so all the clouds buggered off and the sun came out again.

The CBC’s weatherman – perhaps the smuggest human being in the world – has retired. He was one of those people like Father Ted whose hair has been grey since they were 12, so it actually came as a bit of a shock that he was actually of retirement age. Thank God though, because he was too nice. However, he was usually pretty good with the weather, and called it right most of the time. You may say that it is not the world’s most difficult task in Canada. Between May 15 and October 1, it is invariably “changeable” with a risk of scattered showers. From October 2 to May 14, it is cold and snowy. I’m pretty sure that octopus that predicted the World Cup scores could get it right most of the time.
Not the replacement, though. Celeste is no doubt very efficient – and she is certainly much nicer to look at – but that hasn’t transferred itself to the weather reports just yet. Still, I have to tune in to check. Purely to be able to write my blips, you understand.

Other than that, I am still feeling a bit under the weather, so actually had to miss Ottawacker Jr.’s match. Mrs. Ottawacker did the honours and reported back on a good victory.
