This is a photograph...

...  a window to the past

Just back from across the water to attend my uncle's funeral, staggering in this morning at 2am - the penultimate flight from Manchester, those hoping to get to Malaga already delayed by three hours! Travelling is hideous these days!

A select and colourful group of family and mystic Glastonburyians gathered to celebrate Barry's Life and what a varied and layered one he had had. It was a humanist ceremony, the celebrant knew him well and frequently addressed him. The coffin was draped in the white ensign, a reference to his naval days and later his oldest friend played the Last Post on a vintage bugle, heartfelt and breathy. Other friends spoke of his spiritual work in Glastonbury and his sons remembered their remarkable father. We each laid a yellow rose on his coffin and  said our farewells. Later we gathered at Abbey House, the front garden looking out over the Abbey, a ley line passing right through! What a wonderful send off.

This is a photograph : a bit obsessed with this, and how fitting
