The Smallest Member of Our Herd

Meet the smallest member of our herd! Look at all those spots!

There are five deer who like to stay under our deck. There is a big mama doe with two fawns, a young buck with velvet spikes, and a young doe. This is the smallest of the fawns. It had just been napping in Barb's butterfly garden, which is that green space right behind the fawn!

I am apparently a failure as a butterfly garden maker, as not a single plant I planted in this plot is still growing. On the other hand, I am doing quite well in constructing safe, lush, green repositories for napping fawns!  :-)

Here is a song for a summer evening, when even the smallest precious little spotty fawn can take its sweet time nibbling on all of that lovely green stuff we have left for it in our yard: REO Speedwagon, with Sweet Time, from one of my favorite albums of all time, REO's June 1982 release, Good Trouble.
