The Cloisters at Gloucester

We've spent almost the whole day in-and-around Gloucester Cathedral - has made for a really wonderful day; and an appropriately *cool* place to escape today's extreme heat ;-)

... and it really has been unbelievably warm down here - particularly this afternoon; reaching very close to 38C, or 100F in old-money!

Been on two Cathedral tours - one general, and one to the top of the central tower. The main snap here is from this morning, and shows the famous cloisters bathed in glorious sunshine.

Have put up a few extras too: 1st extra is of 'R' enjoying some shade outside the Cathedral; 2nd extra is the central 'Quire' area; 3rd extra shows the inside of the Bell Tower; 4th extra is looking down (as we descended the tower) onto the central area of the Cathedral; 5th extra a view from the very top :-)

Off to Oxford, on the bikes, tomorrow - and thankfully, the intense heat is forecast to drop quite dramatically.
