A Day Worth Recording

The Hotness

Given the weather forecast it seemed appropriate to battle over the desert planet Arrakis in the Dune Imperium boardgame.

As yet it was still warm and pleasant enough for the group to eat outside.  This is all a bit weird because the games weekends are typically in the early spring and autumn/winter and some of the group hadn't actually explored the garden on their previous visits.  Not sure how E had let them get away with that.

Dune Imperium was one of the games nominated for Spiel des Jahres ("SdJ" - Game of the year) a prestigious German / global award.  It didn't win it's class - a game called Living Forest did which I'd not heard of - rather under the radar in the UK - but even getting nominated is quite an achievement.

The SdJ mainstream winner was Cascadia which is a heartily supported winner - highly recommended if you can find it anywhere.
