More Heat

The night never got cooler than 23 degrees C just before sunrise. The day was pretty much a repeat of yesterday, with almost 38 degrees outside and us hiding in darkened rooms to be able to work.

As it happens so often, the forecast rain never arrived. A few dark clouds appeared in the late afternoon, and disappeared again. So I went out to water the tomatoes and oleanders, and stopped for a few minutes to watch the many peacock butterflies on our buddleja. It’s almost the last flowering plant in the garden, as everything else has seemed to wither in the heat and drought.
