Day 3 - Munich, Augsburg and Dachau

We were up early to enjoy breakfast before going to Dachau concentration camp. They kept only two of the over 30 barracks that housed the men only prisoners. Originally built to sleep 200, 2000 men were crammed into each at the camp’s peak. We saw a gas chamber that was never used and crematoriums that were. The statue is a memorial to those who died there. I learned even more disturbing facts about that part of our history than before. I had no idea those camps were so widespread in that part of the world. We traveled to Augsburg and had Mass at St. Peter am Perlach. That church houses the famous painting of Our Lady Undoer of Knots. We traveled back to Munich and were able to walk around that beautiful city. For dinner at the Ratskeller restaurant, we first had sausages and cabbage unique to the area and then traditional pork knuckles with potato dumplings and red cabbage. It was extremely hard to select the best photos for this collage. Thanks so much for visiting. "For evil to flourish, it only requires good men to do nothing." - Simon Wiesenthalt
