Dried Leaves

So the temperature has dropped considerably, to the point where it felt quite cold by comparison.  We even had a some light but steady rain for a while yesterday evening.

However, the heat and the long period of dry weather have had a pronounced effect on the garden.  There are already many leaves turning yellow and curling up.  Our lawn, like the grass in parks we have visited, is looking parched and yellow.  Our plum tree has quite a lot of fruit on it, but the branches are all hanging limply for lack of water so I am not optimistic that the fruit will ripen well.

The cooler weather, however, did make it easier to do a little gardening and to clear some of the unwanted growth in our neglected borders.
