Off Licence

Dinner was another of the pizzas that we picked up on Wednesday evening from the Too Good to Go bag and so wasn’t the healthiest: I need to get back to the gym at some point soon but at least I managed to extend my walk this morning to over 2 miles.  It was a good idea as, having been socialising last night, it was good way to clear my head before the day at work.

As I was heading out last night to meet one of the Marks, I noticed that a team of people had started work on the building on Coombe Lane that used to be a hairdressers.  Until recently there was a sign on the door that a new barber shop was opening; so very much in theme with the previous occupier.  But, whoever is taking over the building has decided to carry out some extensive renovations - or, at least, more shop-fitting than might be suggested by the move from ladies hairdresser to gentleman’s hairdresser.  I always find it fascinating when an old shop sign is revealed.  It seems at some point this was a shop integral to the Raynes Park Hotel (now the Tavern). I managed to find a 1985 planning application that makes reference to the ‘former office licence.
