Reflections on the River Nidd.

We were going to go to Bolton Abbey today but it had to be deferred.
After a slow morning and lunch, we walked up into the town again, which isn’t far.
Stephen posted the cards we send to the grandchildren when we’re on holiday, after we’d had a coffee (and me a bit of cake!) at an independent coffee place run by Italians.
A stroll up to the Castle grounds came next, where I took this photo.
It’s a view which never disappoints.
The River was flat calm by the viaduct. I wasn’t in time to catch the train in the shot as it trundled its way over the viaduct.
We’re now back at the house and reading our current choices..
Mine is The Last Thing He Told Me” by Laura Dave. I’ll include a photo in extras. It was recommended to me.
As it’s raining hard now we have evidently made the best of the afternoon.
We had a great meal out last evening at a pub not far from here. I was asking one of the staff how they got on earlier in the week.
He said folk were still sitting outside eating there in all that heat, and in the kitchen the temperature had registered 55C! The poor chef!
Meanwhile there is absolute chaos at Dover today for both freight and those going on holiday as most schools finished this week here. (It’s earlier in Scotland). The whole town and approaches were gridlocked with waits of up to 6 hours.
Then who gets the blame, the French.
It can’t always be their fault surely.
Everyone knew this was going to be the first big holiday weekend.
As to the Rishi and Liz show, I have no words….
