New writers

After arriving home quite late last night it was, predominately, a day at home. In the evening we did, venture back out to our favourite cabaret venue, The Crazy Coqs, for a New Writer’s showcase. We weren’t sure what to expect but we arrived and were seated before 7pm, with a glass of wine and some toasted almonds, and were treated to a wonderful show.  There were five or six new writer pairs and a three songs were performed from each pair.  There was a much bigger cast than usual.

What struck me most was the variety of styles and music that was heard. The first couple of songs had a familiar musical construction and, for a moment, I thought everything might start to sound the same but they didn’t. I loved them all.  I wonder if I will get to see any of them as real productions?

The other nice thing about these events is that they finish nice and early.  But, because we’d had a couple of drinks we ended up having a kebab takeaway. This diet is going very wrong.
