About to fly away

This morning I was awake before sunrise and able to watch the sunrise and take some photos, the best of which is my extra for today. It fits into my series of Saturday sunrise.

Mid morning I had a jog on the exposed sand and mudflats at more or less fully low tide. There were a number of Tuturiwhatu (New Zealand dotterels)finding food well out from the beachfront. The one that features as my blip had run both ways at different times, despite me keeping a fair distance away. I stayed still and had a good focus when it abruptly took two steps and raised its wings to launch itself into the air. Big wings for a little bird.
