One day at a time

Pipers

We spent the morning in Barnard Castle, County Durham.
We were surprised to see, then hear, this pipe band, members of the Vintage Pipers’ Society. I’m not sure whether the title refers to the age of the pipers or the bagpipes. I can’t find a website, but they were rather good.
(I cannot believe that a telephone exchange box - that green metal cabinet - should be so poorly placed. It could be it was there before the seating.)
Overseas Blippers may not know about the infamy bestowed upon this town by a political adviser of former Prime Minister Johnson, Dominic Cummings, who drove with his wife and children to Barnard Castle during a trip to see family in the north east of England in the midst of the Covid pandemic to, ahem, “test his eye sight”. People, it seems, now pose outside a local branch of a national opticians pretending to be there for their dog who has bad eye sight!
