Memories
I am in the middle of creating a Family Photo Album for 2009, finding all the original photos, selecting and putting pages together. It was the year our second granddaughter was born so lots of family pictures. I got to July and remembered that that was when we went to Canada for the first time. I found the archive of photos and sorted through them for a few to make a page for the album. I did make a photo book at the time and that has made for interesting reading. I have just put a few together for my blip.
Of course the photos brought back so many memories. It was the most wonderful adventure.
We started in Vancouver and quite by chance we arrived on Canada Day what an amazing day to start the holiday. From Vancouver we went by coach and ferry across to Vancouver Island (waving to NannaK on the way!) and to Victoria. We had a car to drive north, arriving eventually at Port Hardy where we got on a boat to sail the Inside Passage to Prince Rupert.
Train through the mountains to Jasper, a drive through the Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise, where we stayed in a delightful cabin for several days. Returning to Jasper we got the Rocky Mountaineer and the spectacular journey through the Rockies. We finished up eventually in Toronto.
Looking at it now, it is amazing how much we did and yet we felt that we were never in a hurry and had leisure to explore places outside the touristy bits. So many little things and people we remember. We know would do it all again given the chance.
