Morning sun, afternoon wind and rain

We went out for a slow walk before breakfast again this morning.  The wind was reasonably light compared to yesterday. It was a sunny morning, quite a contrast to yesterday.  Unfortunately the sun didn’t last and the rain reappeared after lunch, but only intermittently.

Sadly, the South Island continued to be drenched with rain that caused more flooding, slips and power outages.

Today’s blip shows Kohimarama beach bathed in sunshine this morning, and some wing foilers enjoying the wind at Kohimarama beach this afternoon.

There are 9,256 new community cases today, and the seven-day rolling average is 8,335 compared to 9,534 to last Tuesday. The number of people in hospital is 822, including 24 in ICU. There is now a total of 1396 deaths confirmed as attributable to Covid-19, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributing factor. The seven-day rolling average of the increase in deaths attributable to Covid-19 is now 17.
