Park Row House

Park Row House Leeds.
Superb example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture, with its red terracotta facings looks superb.
One of the many beautiful red brick buildings in Leeds.
My Blip for Wide Wednesday’s theme ‘ Red’.

Had a very enjoyable day with the girls.
Went in early to look round, and bumped into Pat, one of the friends who was looking for a hairpiece and handbag to wear at her son’s wedding.
We didn’t know where to look, but by asking a sales assistant in House of Fraser, she directed us to a small shop down a little arcade. What an absolute gem. Pat was able to buy something for her hair and a clutch bag to match in a lovely dusky pink.
Will certainly recommend this shop to others.
Hats, fascinators bags etc. in a multitude of colours, and a very helpful proprietor. Not sure if she makes them all herself.
Pebbles Hats, 4 Central Arcade, ( Next to House of Fraser) Briggate, Leeds.

As we still had some time before meeting the others we had a coffee sat outside Bills.
Another restaurant in one of Leeds’s iconic buildings. This one, on Park Place, was a very grand Georgian Townhouse. Built in 1794-95 for William Heys ( 1736 - 1819. ) one of the founders and later chief surgeon of Leeds General Infirmary ( so says the blue plaque)

We had lunch at Whitehall Grill. Chosen by another friend. Don’t think we will be going back as it wasn’t good. I will make sure I choose a better place next time!

However the food was secondary, as we always each others company, and never stop chatting and laughing.

Unfortunately despite all the building that is going on in Leeds City Centre there are lots if empty shops, and not the atmosphere, anfpd hustle and bustle there used to be before Covid.

Extra is of a brilliant piano player. Just playing for fun on one of the pianos on the Leeds Piano Trail. This one was at the bottom of the Market, near all the street food stalls.
A great boogie woogie tune which had my feet tapping.
Nice to see people applause when he finished.

PS. Forgot to say. Well done to the Lionesses.
What an absolutely amazing game. Especially that back flicked goal! Wow. Great play and entertainment.
