Drag brunch

Susan’s 50th birthday started well with a cheeky wee mimosa in the hotel before we headed over to Treasure Island for our pre booked drag brunch at Senor Frog’s restaurant. We’d booked VIP seats but to Mr PHL and Kenny’s relief, we were far enough from the stage fir them to be protected from interaction with the acts. M
The 3 drag artistes taking part in the show are all former contestants in Ru Paul’s drag race USA and wore some fabulous costumes. The compère was very funny and ribbed the audience members mercilessly which we all loved.

Brunch was accompanied with unlimited champagne and your choice of fruit juice and as much other alcohol as you cared to order, cocktails included. I stuck to the mimosas.

It was a hoot from start to finish and my sides were sore laughing when we left a couple of hours later. Some of our party went for a power nap and Mr PHL and I took the opportunity to pop over to the nearby shopping mall. Lots of shops but no bargains so we returned empty handed.

Dinner at another lovely Italian restaurant was most enjoyable though my pizza took quite a long time to arrive. Explanation was that the first attempt was burned so they had to remake it. They surprised us with a complimentary sharing plate of 4 desserts to make up for the delay so a nice bonus.

Susan and Jenny took a gondola ride as our hotel is themed on Venice down to a replica Rialto bridge where yes we witnessed a proposal! The gondolier serenaded them with a chorus of Happy birthday and the obligatory ‘just one cornetto’ oops I mean O sole moo!

We headed for bed and the others ended up at a karaoke bar. Phew dodged it.

Backblipped Thursday 28th for Friday 22nd
