Stuff and Nonsense

Not your usual type of wasp...

I went outside to take a photo of a comma butterfly at lunchtime today, but it flew off before I could snap him.
Instead I found this odd looking insect which apparently belongs to the family Gasteruptiidea - a family of parasitoid wasps.
I found some interesting information online about them, so now I will be looking out for them around our bee hotels.

I'm not sure that there will be much variety in my blips over the next 10 days or so as the Commonwealth Games have just started.  I'll be watching a lot of the action on TV when I'm not at the butterfly house, so it's likely to be either garden blips or butterflies :)
