tempus fugit

I spot an eye spot

I moved this Oak Eggar moth from inside the house to outside where it made like a leaf (extra).

The single 'eyespot' on each wing  may act as a deflector, drawing a predatory bird's attention/attack away from the vital organs and confining  damage to the wing edges thus increasing the insect's chances of survival.

See here for a simplified explanation of the function of eyespots.
