Beatrix Potter exhibition at the V&A

Thank you of all your good wishes on our wedding anniversary. This was one of the best of days. Pretty much perfect.

A fabulous breakfast, smooth travel to the V&A from Blackfriars. A quite wonderful exhibition about all aspects of Beatrix Potter’s life and work. The more I learn about her the more inspirational she becomes.

Todays blip is from the final scene in the exhibition where her life and work in the Lake District made a significant contribution to large areas of the district being saved by the National Trust. The Herdwick sheep, of which she was credited with saving as a breed, projected in the background while people look at the displays. The film was made by the well know Terry Abrahams.

A long walk from the V&A took us to 28-50 Oxford Circus for an anniversary lunch. What a lucky choice. Great place for lunch at reasonable prices for London. And their bread was so exceptional we had two baskets.

A quick trip on the tube back to the hotel to freshen up for the main event which was the Lion King at the Lyceum. I’m not a great fan of musicals but this was by far the best I’ve seen. The animatronics and costumes were as good as the story.

We’d booked to use the Ambassador Lounge as a treat before the show and in the interval. A glass of champagne and nibbles preceded the show and ice cream in the interval. We were escorted to our seats.

A most enjoyable walk back to the hotel, the front of the theatre thronged with brightly lit rickshaws, the Southbank was buzzing in the warm, balmy evening air and the views of London and the Thames magical as shown in the extra.
