Remembrance Spray

This blip is an extreme close-up of a lily which is central to a remembrance spray. I find that only in close-up do you really see how flowers have evolved to attract insects. The centre of this specimen looks as if it is lit up in neon lights! I think the lily reflects nature at its most exuberant - the 'Times Square' of plants! It says 'Look at me'!

Today was my mother-in-law's birthday. She was a feisty lady who was an important part of our family life for many years until her heart gave out when she was 77. Maybe today they would have had her on medication and she would have reached her 80s. Anyway, she had a warm and generous personality and her calendar was always full of meetings with friends. I don't think she'd have made a good patient.

With one thing and another, we did not get around to putting up a headstone at the family grave, but at last, at the prompting of our daughter, we have a headstone in place. Tomorrow we'll visit it and take the flowers.
